Municipal project partnerships

Municipal partnerships connect people, allow them to be directly involved, and enrich them in many ways. Through the exchange of expertise, personal encounters and the joint implementation of projects, we and our partners can effectively tackle the enormous challenges on a municipal level. This partnership approach is part of the “Municipal know-how for host communities in the Middle East" programme, and is professionally assisted by the The Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW).

Power through participation

What opportunities are available to municipalities taking part in the project, and what are the benefits?

The joint implementation of partnership projects offers participating municipalities the opportunity to get involved in a unique peer-to-peer exchange and to contribute to sustainable development on the municipal level. Both partners are able to offer knowledge and experience.

Municipal project partnerships depend on the active exchange of knowledge and experience. They promote citizens’ awareness of global connections and development cooperation. They also help municipalities to better understand the refugees and their backgrounds. In this way, the collaboration also supports integration.

Long-term relations

What are the concrete measures of the partnerships?

The focal point of bilateral partnerships is the joint development of solutions and the implementation of project ideas relating to key municipal topics and sustainable development, such as waste management, water and energy provision, and youth employment.

The project ideas are aimed at the needs of the partner municipality. Although project partnerships are initially limited to the duration of the project implementation process, they can provide the foundation for long-term municipal work relations.
